The Delhi High Court has dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Manoj Kumar Jha, accused of impersonating an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer to allegedly access sensitive information.
Justice Girish Kathpalia, delivering the order, noted that this was Jha’s second attempt to secure pre-arrest bail in connection with an FIR registered at Parliament Street Police Station under Section 204 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The prosecution opposed the plea, highlighting that a similar application had already been rejected in November 2024. They also argued that Jha had previously been granted interim protection by a coordinate bench but failed to cooperate with the investigation.
Authorities informed the court that Jha is facing at least 12 other criminal cases across Delhi, Kolkata, Bihar, and Punjab, pointing to a broader pattern of criminal conduct.
Jha’s counsel contended that the earlier denial was based solely on his non-cooperation with investigators. However, the Court clarified that the prior decision had considered the totality of circumstances, including the nature of allegations and his past criminal record.
Finding no significant change in circumstances since the initial rejection, the Court refused to revisit the matter and dismissed both the bail plea and the accompanying application.
