Justice Sabina appointed as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh

The Supreme Court has recommended the name of Justice Sabina for the appointment as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.

The collegium recommandation says that "Ms. Justice Sabina (PHC: Punjab and Haryana) was appointed on 12 March 2008 and is due to retire on 19 April 2023. She is presently the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh. The Collegium has, by its separate resolution, proposed the appointment of Mr. Justice Jaswant Singh, seniormost puisne Judge of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura. Mr. Justice Jaswant Singh is also due to retire on 22 February 2023. The Collegium has already proposed Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, the first in order of seniority among the judges from the High Court of Punjab and Haryana (presently Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad) for appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court."

She was born on 20.04.1961. Shae was unanimously, selected Joint Secretary of Bar Association of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the year 1986. Thereafter, she joined as Additional District Judge on 21.01.1997. Subsequently she became Sessions Judge in September, 2004 and was elevated as an Additional Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court on 12.03.2008 and Permanent Judge on 23.02.2010. She was transferred to Rajasthan High Court and assumed office of a Judge of Rajasthan High Court on 11.04.2016. She was transferred to the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, and took oath on 08.10.2021. She assumed charge of the office of Chief Justice (Acting) w.e.f. 21.01.2023.
