MCA Appoints Justices N Sesha Sayee and Mohammad Faiz Alam Khan as Judicial Members of NCLAT

Recently, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) announced the appointment of Justices N Sesha Sayee and Mohammad Faiz Alam Khan as Judicial Members of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).

Their tenure will span four years from the date they assume office or until they reach the age of 67, whichever comes earlier.

With these appointments, the NCLAT has now achieved its full sanctioned strength of 12 members, including the Chairperson, Judicial Members, and Technical Members.

The tribunal functions through its principal bench in New Delhi, alongside a regional bench in Chennai to cater to litigants from southern India. Former Supreme Court judge Justice Ashok Bhushan currently serves as the Chairperson of the NCLAT.

About Justice N Sesha Sayee

Born on January 8, 1963, in Mancompu, Kerala, Justice N Sesha Sayee pursued his undergraduate studies in Economics at Scott Christian College, Nagercoil, and earned his law degree from Madras Law College in 1986. He enrolled as an advocate that same year. In 2004, he was appointed as a direct district judge. Justice Sesha Sayee was elevated to the Madras High Court as an Additional Judge on November 16, 2016, and became a Permanent Judge on November 2, 2018. He retired on January 7, 2025, after serving the High Court for over eight years.

About Justice Mohammad Faiz Alam Khan

Justice Mohammad Faiz Alam Khan was born on January 26, 1963. He obtained his law degree in 1986 and joined the Higher Judicial Service in 2005. He was elevated to the position of District & Sessions Judge in 2016. Justice Khan was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court on November 22, 2018, and was made a Permanent Judge on November 20, 2020. He retired on January 25, 2025.

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, established under the Companies Act, 2013, hears appeals against the orders of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), and the Competition Commission of India (CCI), among others.
