Neha Singh Rathore Moves Allahabad High Court Against FIR Over Social Media Post

Folk singer Neha Singh Rathore has approached the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court, challenging a First Information Report (FIR) registered against her for a social media post related to the Pahalgam terror attack.

The FIR, lodged by one Abhay Pratap Singh at the Hazratganj Police Station in late April, accuses Rathore of targeting a specific religious community and threatening the nation’s unity. She has been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly promoting communal disharmony, disturbing public order, and endangering the sovereignty and integrity of India. Additional charges under the Information Technology Act have also been invoked.

Rathore, in her plea, asserted that she has been wrongfully implicated and denied the allegations of inciting communal tensions.

The petition came up for hearing on Tuesday before a division bench comprising Justice Vivek Chaudhary and Justice B.R. Singh. During the proceedings, Additional Advocate General V.K. Shahi and state counsel V.K. Singh opposed Rathore’s plea, stating that there was sufficient evidence against her and sought time to place the material before the court.

The court accepted the state’s request and adjourned the matter to May 12 for further hearing.
