Rakesh Pandey has been elected president of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) for the third time, while Akhilesh Kumar Sharma has secured the post of secretary.
The elections were held on July 23, with a high voter turnout—8,773 lawyers cast their votes for 28 posts, marking about 85% participation.
After an extensive six-day counting process, led by Chief Returning Officer Radha Kant Ojha, the results for the president and secretary posts were declared on Tuesday.
Pandey won the presidential race by a narrow margin, defeating CP Upadhyay by 193 votes. Pandey secured 2,121 votes, while Upadhyay got 1,928.
In contrast, Sharma won the secretary’s post with a commanding lead. He received 2,885 votes, defeating Ray Sahab Yadav, who got 1,948 votes. Santosh Kumar Mishra stood third with 1,149 votes.
According to other returning officers—Vashistha Tiwari, Mahendra Bahadur Singh, and Anil Bhushan—the counting for the remaining 26 posts is still underway and is expected to conclude in the next two days.
