SC Collegium Recommends Justice Manmohan for Appointment as Supreme Court Judge

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting on November 28, 2024, unanimously recommended the appointment of Justice Manmohan, Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India.  

During the meeting, the Collegium deliberated on the names of Chief Justices and senior puisne Judges from various High Courts across the country who are eligible for elevation to the Supreme Court.  

Justice Manmohan was appointed as a Judge of the Delhi High Court on March 13, 2008, and has been serving as its Chief Justice since September 29, 2024.  

According to the Collegium, Justice Manmohan ranks second in the combined all-India seniority of High Court Judges and is the senior-most Judge from the Delhi High Court.  

In recommending his elevation, the Collegium also noted that the Supreme Court currently has only one Judge from the Delhi High Court on its Bench.
