Sukesh Chandrashekhar Extortion Case: Nora Fatehi Tells Court About Meeting With Wife Leena Paulose

Sukesh Chandrashekhar Extortion Case: Nora Fatehi Tells Court About Meeting With Wife Leena Paulose

Actor Nora Fatehi appeared before a Delhi court on Friday and recorded her statement as a prosecution witness in the Rs 200 crore extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

Fatehi appeared before Additional Sessions Judge Gagandeep Singh at the Rouse Avenue Courts.

During her testimony, the actor, a Canadian citizen of Moroccan origin, told the court that she was in India on a work visa issued in connection with her work with music company T-Series.

She also deposed about her visit to Chennai and her meeting with Leena Paulose, Chandrashekhar's wife.

The court had summoned Fatehi twice earlier to appear as a witness in the case.

Earlier this month, her counsel had sought an exemption from personal appearance, drawing the court's displeasure.

"This cannot be taken lightly... As a witness, you should have appeared in court. Your conduct is not proper. Don't take the court for granted," the court had observed.

Chandrashekhar is accused of running an extortion racket through which he allegedly cheated businesspersons of nearly Rs 200 crore.

According to the police, Chandrashekhar and his associates allegedly extorted money from Aditi Singh, wife of Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, by impersonating government officials and promising to secure her husband's release from jail in a money laundering case.

He allegedly posed as a Central Government official and coerced Aditi Singh into transferring the money.

The Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) investigated the case and filed a chargesheet invoking provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Fatehi was also questioned by the EOW over her alleged links with Chandrashekhar and his wife. Her statement was recorded before a magistrate, and she was subsequently named as a prosecution witness in a supplementary chargesheet.

The police have alleged that Chandrashekhar gifted luxury items to several Bollywood celebrities, including Fatehi and actor Jacqueline Fernandez.

In 2022, Fatehi was questioned about a BMW car allegedly offered to her by Chandrashekhar. She reportedly told investigators that although he had offered her the car, she had not accepted the gift.
