The National Investigation Agency has told the Delhi High Court that separatist leader Yasin Malik used his links with top leaders in Pakistan, including its Prime Minister and President, to promote Kashmir’s separation from India.
According to the agency, Malik was in contact with senior Pakistani officials and used these connections to spread anti-India narratives and push a separatist agenda in Jammu and Kashmir.
The NIA also said that Malik’s claims about being in touch with Indian leaders or taking part in peace talks do not weaken the case against him or reduce his alleged involvement in illegal activities.
The matter is currently being heard by the Delhi High Court, where the NIA is seeking a harsher punishment for Malik in a terror funding case.
Malik is already serving a life sentence after being convicted in 2022 under anti-terror laws.
