Recently, a Kerala court sentenced 141 years imprisonment for repeatedly raping his minor stepdaughter for several years when her mother was not at home.
Manjeri Fast Track Special Court Judge Ashraf A.M. sentenced the man to a total of 141 years in prison, imposing varying terms of imprisonment under different provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and the Juvenile Justice Act.
However, the man will serve a total of 40 years in prison, as this was the longest sentence imposed. The varying terms of imprisonment will be served concurrently, as per the court's order on November 29.
The court also imposed a fine of ₹7.85 lakh on the convict and ordered that compensation be provided to the victim.
Both the convict and the victim are natives of Tamil Nadu, and the stepfather had been sexually assaulting the girl since 2017, according to a police officer involved in the case. The girl eventually confided in her mother, following advice from a friend, and her mother subsequently informed the police.
