Lawyers Protest In Justice Ajay Bhanot's Court, Furniture Allegedly Thrown: Allahabad HC

Today, chaos broke out in the Allahabad High Court as lawyers protested inside the courtroom of Justice Ajay Bhanot and allegedly threw furniture and other items towards the judge's dais. The protest came a day after the Allahabad High Court Bar Association threatened to boycott his court over alleged misbehaviour with a lawyer.

On Tuesday, the Bar Association alleged that Justice Bhanot had made a lawyer apologise to a Superintendent of Police (SP). The lawyer had reportedly objected to the officer sitting in a row usually reserved for advocates and asked him to move further back.

The Bar Association claimed that a separate chair had been arranged in the courtroom for police officers and other senior officials. It also alleged that Justice Bhanot threatened to send the lawyer to jail and made fun of another senior advocate.

The association urged the Chief Justice to look into the matter and warned that lawyers would boycott Justice Bhanot's court if no action was taken.

Videos shared on Wednesday showed several lawyers gathering outside Justice Bhanot's courtroom, where he was sitting with Justice Divesh Chandra Samant.

The lawyers were seen raising slogans and allegedly throwing furniture and other items inside the courtroom. Some reports also claimed that a shoe was thrown at Justice Bhanot.
