SC Collegium recalls its recommndation: Justice K. Vinod Chandran sent to Patna High Court instead of Gauhati High Court

In a surprising move, the Supreme Court collegium has recommended the name of JUSTICE K. VINOD CHANDRAN for the appointment as Chief Justice of Patna High Court whereas earlier he was recommended for the appointment of Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court.

Justice Sandeep Mehta of Gauhati High Court has now been recommended as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.

Justice Chandran was born on 25-04-1963. He obtained Law Degree from Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram. He started practice in the year 1991. He served as Special Government Pleader (Taxes) of the Government of Kerala from 2007 to 2011. He was Sworn-in as Additional Judge of High Court of Kerala on 08-11-2011. Later he was appointed as Permanent Judge of the High Court of Kerala with effect from 24-06-2013.

The recommendation says that "Mr. Justice K. Vinod Chandran is the seniormost Judge of the Kerala High Court. Mr. Justice K. Vinod Chandran was appointed on 08 November 2011 and is due to retire on 24 April 2025. The Collegium has previously resolved to appoint Mr. Justice K.
