Gujarat High Court To Send Daily Cause-Lists To Advocates Via WhatsApp

The Gujarat High Court has launched a pilot initiative to deliver daily Cause-Lists directly to advocates through WhatsApp, aimed at making access to court listings faster and more convenient.

Under the new automated system, advocate-specific daily Cause-Lists will be generated and sent as PDF attachments to the registered WhatsApp numbers of advocates every evening.

From SMS Alerts to Direct WhatsApp Delivery

Earlier, advocates received only an SMS informing them that the Cause-List had been published. They were then required to visit the Gujarat High Court website, locate the relevant Cause-List and download it manually.

Under the new WhatsApp-based system, advocates will receive their relevant Cause-List directly on their mobile phones, eliminating the need to search the court website.

Instant Mobile Access

The High Court stated that the initiative will allow advocates to access their listed matters with a single tap, making the process more convenient and reducing delays associated with navigating the web portal and searching for individual Cause-Lists.

The initiative is presently being implemented as a pilot project.

More eServices Likely Through WhatsApp

According to the High Court's press note, following evaluation of the pilot phase, the WhatsApp service may be expanded to provide several other court-related services directly to advocates and litigants.

These may include:

  • Certified copies of court orders and judgments
  • Case status reports
  • Fee receipts
  • Other eServices

The initiative marks another step towards digitising court services and improving accessibility of judicial information for advocates and litigants.
