The Central government has reappointed Senior Advocates K Arvind Kamath and B Narsimha Sharma as Additional Solicitors General (ASGs) to represent it before the Karnataka and Telangana High Courts, respectively.

The government notified their reappointments on September 23. Their fresh three-year terms will begin on October 17, 2026, and continue until October 16, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kamath completed his Bachelor of Laws from JSS Law College, Mysuru, in 1992 and later obtained an LLM from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru. He enrolled as an advocate in 1993 and initially practised before the City Civil Court, Bengaluru. Since 1995-96, he has primarily practised before the Karnataka High Court.

In 2000, Kamath received the British Chevening Scholarship from the British Council, through which he underwent training in English and European Union commercial and corporate laws.

He has also been associated with legal education, teaching for around 12 years and serving as guest faculty at MS Ramaiah Law College. In 2003, the Karnataka High Court appointed him Assistant Editor of the Indian Law Reports.

The Karnataka High Court designated Kamath as a Senior Advocate in November 2018. The Centre first appointed him as an ASG on October 17, 2023, to represent it before the Karnataka High Court.

Sharma, who has been reappointed as ASG for the Telangana High Court, was designated a Senior Advocate towards the end of 2022. The Centre had appointed him as an ASG for the Telangana High Court in the same October 17, 2023 notification.
