Madras HC Launches Digital Dashboard To Track Unclaimed Compensation In Motor Accident Case

The Madras High Court has launched a dedicated digital dashboard to monitor unclaimed compensation amounts in Motor Accident Claims Petitions (MCOPs) and Labour Court cases.

Developed in coordination with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Madras, the dashboard received approval from the High Court's Computer Committee at its meeting on September 28. It is now operational and accessible through the High Court's website.

In a directive dated October 6, the High Court Registry instructed all Principal District Judges to ensure that subordinate courts update the dashboard with the requisite details of cases arising under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1923, and pending Labour Court matters.

The dashboard aims to identify unclaimed compensation deposits and facilitate their timely disbursement to the rightful beneficiaries. It will enable centralised monitoring of compensation amounts deposited across courts and help trace missing claimants through coordination with Legal Services Authorities, paralegal volunteers, police and revenue officials.

The initiative is also expected to improve transparency and accountability in monitoring compliance with judicial directions, while reducing dependence on scattered records and improving administrative efficiency.

Further, the dashboard will help safeguard claimants' financial interests through fixed-deposit protections and assist courts in tracking compliance with their orders.
